homework (3/29/07)

1.) The thing that was in common with all of our rockets was that the all had a horrible smell to it once it launched in the air. Another thing in common was that all of the rockets were able to launch in the air.

2.) A reason why some of the rockets failed was because some of them had too much or not enough powder. I also think that some of the rockets didn't launch good because mabe some people didn't hold the button down long enough for it to launch and they thought that there would be something wrong with there rocket.

homework (3/27/07)

1.) Answer= 800000000

2.) Instructions on tiny paper

1.) Materials - I will use only lightweight, non-metal parts for the nose, body, and fins of my rocket.
2.) Motors - I will use only certified, commercially-made model rocket motors, and will not tamper with these motors, or use them for any purpose except those recommended by the manufacturer.
3.) Ignition System - I will launch my rockets with an electrical launch system and electrical motor ignites.
4.) Launch Safety - I will use a countdown before launch, and will ensure that everyone is paying attention and is a safe distance of at least 15 feet away when I launch rockets with D motors or smaller, and 30 feet when I launch larger rockets.
5.) Misfires - If my rocket does not launch when I press the button of my electrical launch system, I will remove the launcher's safely interlock or disconnect its battery before allowing anyone to approach the rocket.
6.) Launcher - I will launch my rocket from a launch rod, tower, or rail to ensure that the rocket flies nearly strait up. I will use a blast defector to prevent the motor's exhaust from hitting the ground, and I will cap the end of my launch rod when it is not in use.
7.) Size - If my model rocket weighs more than one pound (453 grams) at liftoff of has more power than a single G motor, I will check and comply with Federal Aviation Administration regulations before flying.
8.) Flight Safety - I will not launch my rocket at targets or near airplanes, and will not put any flammable or explosive payload in my rocket.
9.) Launch Site - I will launch my rocket outdoors, in an open area and in safe weather conditions, (*Little or no wind) and will ensure that there is no dry grass close to the launch pad(*Or in the flying field).
10.) Recovery System - I will use a recovery system such as a steamer or parachute in my rocket so that it returns safely and undamaged and can be flown again, and I will use only flame resistant or fireproof recovery system wadding in my rocket.
11.) Recovery Safety - I will not attempt to recover my rocket from power lines, tall trees, or other dangerous places.

homework (3/23/07)

5000 nautical= 5750 statue miles

During this past week I learned some cool things that I didn't know before. One thing I've learned was that the Red Baron's plane was red because it wanted attention and was also used to distract the other pilots. Another thing I learned was that when rockets lift off into space and the parts to it falls off, the detached parts disintegrate in the air once the rocket is at a certain height.

What I liked was all the models of the planes, rockets, cars, engines and the rest of them. I also liked how we made toy planes and how easily they were able to fly. I liked the whole museum and how the atmosphere was where I ate lunch at.

What I loved was the board room and how warm it was. I also loved well my glider came out after it has been repaired.

What I hated were those chairs in the board room. I hated those because when I was trying to pay attention and learn, the chairs made me go to sleep. I also hated that the chairs were so comfortable.

If I could change one thing about this whole intersession, it would be those chairs in the board room.

homework (3/23?07)

Occam's Razor is whenever one can remove the impossible, what remains, however unlikely [leads to] the truth. This could be used in your everyday life because when impossible things occur there is a chance that it could come true.

Ruben H. Fleet is so important because he did relocate in San Diego because it provided good weather and was easier to test new air crafts.

Datum means a current position of your target and it symbolizes a bow- tie.

The Red Baron is the person that killed 80 people and his plane is red to intimidate other pilots and to gain attention.

intersession homework (3/20/07)

What I did to improve my plane was that I cut some parts of the wings off. I did it on accident and my plane turned out good. The adjustments were minor but made a big difference. My observation of my plane was that it would keep hitting the ceiling ever time I threw it. My question about my plane was wondering if a small adjustment would change a lot. My hypothesis was about the same as my question. My conclusion was to change the wings to my plane to see what would change. In the end, my plan worked and my plane went further than usual.
